Portland State University's School of Social Work is ranked among the top schools in the nation.
We have longstanding programs that offer a Masters of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree -- the only such accredited program in Oregon -- in both a Portland campus option and a distance option and a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Social Work and Social Research.
PSU's acclaimed Child and Family Studies program offers students an option for pursuing specialized studies at the Bachelor's level.
Beginning Fall 2008 the School will offer a program leading to a Bachelors in Social Work.
Our Field Education component involves hundreds of skilled and talented professionals who work in a wide array of agencies and programs throughout the Pacific Northwest.
The School has a nationally renowned research organization - the Regional Research Institute for Human Services and a new Center for Improvement of Services to Children and Families, both of which provide exciting opportunities for faculty and students to engage in research.
Our faculty’s research initiatives have attracted support from some of the nation’s most respected funders, including the National Institutes of Health, the W. T. Grant Foundation, and the Ford Foundation.
Our faculty and students have been awarded Fulbright Fellowships from the U. S. Department of State to engage in international learning and teaching opportunities including travel to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Latvia, and Sweden.
Most important, our alumni have gone on to become leaders in addressing critical social needs at local, national, and even international levels.
