You may download these, complete them by hand and mail to us.  Or you may request a packet be mailed directly to you:  sswphd@pdx.edu (503-725-5016).  If you have already sent your request and haven't received your packet by October 22nd, please contact us again.  We look forward to hearing from you!  Application deadline is January 15, 2008.

The School of Social Work seeks to admit well-qualified students with diverse backgrounds whose career goals are consistent with its mission and graduate offerings. Selection is based on educational background and academic performance, quality of relevant experience, demonstrated interest in the development and communication of professional knowledge, and the clarity and appropriateness of professional goals.

Applicants are expected to possess a Master of Social Work degree, and at least two year's practice experience in social work or a related field is recommended.  However, students without an M.S.W. but who possess an advanced degree in a related field may be admitted if they have exceptional practice or research experience.  Applicants without an M.S.W. may choose to apply to either the Ph.D. program alone or to the Combined M.S.W./Ph.D. Program.

Combined M.S.W./Ph.D. Program:  Students applying to the combined M.S.W./Ph.D. program will be evaluated separately by the M.S.W. and the Ph.D. admission committees.  Application procedures are the same as for the Ph.D. program but with two extra requirements:  (1) a personal essay addressing your suitability for the M.S.W. program, and (2) an extra reference which details your suitability for the M.S.W. degree.  The entire package is submitted to the Ph.D. program office.

For complete details, see “Additional Instructions for Combined M.S.W./Ph.D. Applications”.
