Ph.D. Program

Faculty and Student Interaction

Students work closely with members of the faculty, both in and out of class. Students have faculty advisers from the time of entry into the program. As their work in the program proceeds, students find that they spend extensive time with faculty whose interests will help in the understanding of the social problem on which they are focusing. A faculty advisory committee works closely with the student around completion of a specialization paper, and a dissertation committee works with the student around completion of the dissertation.

Faculty Information

More than 25 full-time faculty members teach or are available for individual work with Ph.D. students. Faculty members have a variety of interests that range from mental health and aging to juvenile justice. Student Organization (PSSWA)

Student life is an important component of the program. The PhD Student Social Work Association (PSSWA) provides support for all PhD social work students and gives students a collective voice and a forum for discussion as well as a means for action and input into student affairs and program issues. PSSWA also produces a newlsetter. See links below:
