He earned a Bachelor of Art Degree in the field of Political Science with a minor in African American Studies from Howard University. John brings a broad range of experiences to the School of Social Work , working as a Budget Analyst at the Corporation for National and Community Service, Program Assistant Coordinator at PolicyLink, Manager of Administrative Services at Oregon Health & Science University, School of Nursing and Operations Manager at the African American Health Coalition, Inc. John Trivia: He mentors his two nieces who attend elementary school in NE Portland and has spent the last 17 years working in the public sector for public health and social change.

Practice Experience: Jean is responsible for all fiscally related duties for the School while ensuring proper accounting and budgetary processes are followed. She prepares and monitors the School's program and departmental budgets and provides guidance to the Dean around financial decisions. Jean has over 20 years experience in higher education administration. At Eastern Washington University she held positions as Operations Manager for the Dept of Biology and Administrative and Budgetary Manager for the School of Social Work and Human Services. Prior to working at EWU she taught high school science in Montana, Washington and Oregon. She is still actively involved in Science Olympiad, an organization that promotes science education through competitions for grades 6-9 at the state and national levels.

Practice Experience: Roxanne provides administrative and program management assistance for the MSW Program Director, the Director of Student Affairs and the Curriculum Committee Chair at the School of Social Work. Roxanne coordinates various processes for the School of Social Work, i.e. MSW Welcoming, MSW Graduation and AmeriCorps. In addition, she job shares her Administrative Program Assistant position with Kathleen LeFebvre and is nearing completion of a B.S. in Criminology and Criminal Justice. Roxy Trivia: Emigrated from Bucharest Romania in 1991, on the Dean's List from 2004-present, and part of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society 2004-2006.

Practice Experience: Melissa supports the Child and Family Studies Program and the emerging BSW Program at the School of Social Work. She is a full-time staff member, and completed a B.A. in Science here at Portland State University. (Fall, 2005) Most recently Melissa is working on updating program publications, program admissions, and new student orientation and advising. Previously she has held student positions with both Portland State University and Portland General Electric. Melissa Trivia: She continues her education by taking community art courses(Her goal is 1 each quarter). She has an interest in all things artistic and like to share her enthusiasm for arts and crafts with others.

Practice Experience: B.S. School of Communications and Fine Arts, Southern Illinois University -- Radio-Television, Film. -- After years of varied work in radio, video, film, animation, (some commercials and those cute little films for Sesame Street) publications design and web works, I am now filling a role as front desk receptionist and faculty admin-assistant. Special talents -- fixing the photocopy machine and troubleshooting A-V problems. I love taking music classes on my lunch hour, currently improving my piano skills.
